Ryan Campbell is an Associate in the Toronto office of DLA Piper (Canada) LLP, and has a general employment and labour law practice. He advises employers on a broad range of workplace issues including occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, employment contracts, performance management, accommodation, terminations, and employment-related litigation.
Ryan has experience assisting Ontario employers in complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, advising on the use of social media and technology in the workplace and defending against human rights discrimination claims.
He has successfully represented clients before Ontario courts, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
Ryan also advises targets and acquirers with respect to human resources matters in corporate/M&A transactions and assists multinational corporations in establishing and maintaining operations in Canada to ensure compliance with local laws.
Ryan strives to provide creative, pragmatic solutions to legal challenges and is committed to delivering excellent customer service and sound legal advice to his clients. Clients benefit from his past experience on secondment to the in-house legal department of a global engineering conglomerate.
Ryan received his B.A. and law degree from the University of Western Ontario, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011. He later received his M.B.A. at Queens University in 2015. In addition to his professional life, Ryan is passionate about youth outreach and leadership and also has an interest in the arts. He has previously served as a director of a youth leadership organization and appeared in three Nightwood Theatre Lawyer Show productions - Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night and Guys and Dolls.
